So very thankful for your constant prayers for Ella Joy! A huge thanks to Eddie for driving us to RMH, and also to Kelsey for watching over Asaph while Ella Joy went to clinic at Luries. We seriously could not do all these things without the amazing friends God places in our lives! Last week, we were so thankful that according to her blood tests, the high percentage of liver damage went down. This week we found out her levels did increase, however we are not discouraged. We know we have many prayer warriors who are praying with us for God to protect her liver and praying that next month the high percentage for liver damage would decrease! We know it is the chemotherapy she is getting every single day that is affecting her liver in this negative way, but we cannot stop the chemotherapy as she needs it every day for the next year ahead. So in faith we will continue to pray for God’s provision and protection on Ella Joy’s little body, and we would like to continue asking you to pray with us! Please also pray with us for our next clinic visit on March 19th Thursday. Ella Joy will be getting a spinal tap, blood counts and an IV push of Vincristine chemotherapy.
Even when we were on our way home from Luries/RMH and getting off the train and into our car, there was a brief moment we were not sure if our car was going to start after being parked for 2 days in the frigid cold. But, so extremely thankful to God that the car did start and we could get Ella Joy and Asaph safely home and ready for bed. Please pray for Ella Joy as our APN increased her dosage of prednisone. We have already noticed she is even more irritable and moody. We are praying that even though the hormones affect her in a certain way, God would help her to control her emotions and feelings. Even in the midst of chemo and drugs, we pray that Ella Joy would find her meaning in God and see that even this is part of the purpose for which she was created. Our prayer is that we could just look beyond this time and see how Ella Joy’s story can demonstrate God’s love to others as she continues to slowly grow and become more like Him in the midst of this storm.
Ravi Zacharias once said, “When you find your definitions in God, you find the very purpose for which you were created. Put your hand into God’s hand, know His absolutes, demonstrate His love, present His truth, and the message of redemption and transformation will take hold.”
“It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God — that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” – 1 Corinthians 1:30
We pray that our family would be able to find our definition in God.
We have a long way to go, but praying to God that when we type in “Won family” in a spiritual Wikipedia … one day, it might say: a family that desires to live for Jesus. A family who tries to love others in an effort to demonstrate His amazing love. A family who went through struggles and storms, but came out transformed by the power of God. How amazing would it be to live out a legacy of faith for His glory! If only we could find our definition in Him, we could strive for this kind of message of redemption and transformation!
David Ruis wrote a song called “There must be more”
(cue piano, da nah na na na nah … nah na na nah!)
Lord I groan, Lord I kneel I’m crying out for something real Because I know deep in my soul There must be more Lord I’m tired, Yes, I’m weak I need your power to work in me ’Cause I can’t let go I keep hanging on There must be more There must be more!
My prayer for Ella Joy is that when she is tired and weak, God’s power would work in her. When she gets older and questions if there is more to this life, I pray that she would find her meaning in Jesus. Her definition in the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
